Death Becomes Her is episode 295 focusing on the 1992 film of the same name as part of the Podcast Away miniseries on the films of Robert Zemeckis. Posted October 25, 2020.

Summary

Now armed with an arsenal of wild special effects, Zemeckis takes it up a notch with 1992's Death Becomes Her – the first to include computer-generated skin on film. Katey Rich returns as we reminisce Bruce Willis putting effort in, irritating European monologues, the thrilling billing and why Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn make a perfect cult pair.[1]

Milestones and Ephemera

  • Some fun billing order chat! In the film the top three stars share a title card and are credited Hawn, Willis, Streep. It's reversed for the poster, but Willis is centered but dropped down. In the trailer, they're announced Streep, Willis, and Hawn.
  • News story about Rick Moranis getting punched: Rick Moranis sucker-punched in head on Manhattan's Upper West Side
  • Blockbuster directors who have an itch to direct a musical but won't commit: Zemeckis, Spielberg (Temple of Doom), and Raimi (Spider-Man 3).
  • Ben likes a dramatic descend.

Quotes

PRODUCER BEN: This movie is like your kooky divorced aunt. This movie smokes capri cigarettes, it's got long fingernails. It's... wow. It's WI-LD.
