Pod & Basketcast is a miniseries covering the films of Gina Prince-Bythewood. The miniseries began in August 2020, and was preceded by You've Got Podcast covering the films of Nora Ephron. The series will be followed by the as-yet-untitled miniseries on the films of Robert Zemeckis.
Summary
The events of May and June 2020 -- including the murder of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter protests worldwide -- inspired #TheTwoFriends to commit to use the podcast platform to amplify black voices, including booking more black guests and covering more black directors on the podcast. They announced their intentions to at the beginning of the This Is My Life episode[1]. Gina Prince-Bythewood is the first black director covered, and all the featured guests were black. Prior to the announcement of the miniseries, there was speculation that it might be John Singleton[2], Prince[3], Ava DuVernay[4], Spike Lee[5], Steve McQueen[6], or Ryan Coogler [7].
