Pod Night Shyamacast is a miniseries covering the films of M. Night Shyamalan.

Summary

#TheTwoFriends sought to answer the questions: Is this guy a great filmmaker? A terrible filmmaker? Do you have to have made mostly good films to be a good filmmaker? Does money corrupt?

This was the first miniseries of the new "Blank Check with Griffin and David" era of the show, coming on the heels of their 2015 "year of Star Wars" which covered the Phantom Menace trilogy in exhaustive detail. Pod Night Shyamacast was the name chosen by Twitter fans of the show, beating out P. Cast Shyamalan for the official title of this miniseries.

In a later Mailbag episode of the show, Griffin said that no miniseries yet had caused his opinion of a filmmaker to do a 180... but the closest was Pod Night Shyamacast. As he put it, he went into this miniseries having discounted Shyamalan's directorial abilities in the wake of several consecutive disappointing films. But the film-by-film examination of the podcast helped remind him that M. Night was the real deal in terms of his talent. And of course, the later episodes on Split and Glass -- sequels to Griffin's favorite Shyamalan movie, even if he wasn't immediately enamored of Split -- were part of that turnaround as well. By contrast David loved Split and was all in on the weirdness of Glass.

This miniseries was preceded by the initial installments of The Star Wars Sequels miniseries. It was followed by The Podchowski Casters miniseries.
