A miniseries covering the feature films of the Wachowski siblings, as well as the first season of their Netflix series "Sense8" and their Animatrix anthology of short films.
Summary
When the co-hosts sought to re-focus and re-brand the show after their 'year of Star Wars' with the Phantom Menace trilogy, right away they came up with two directors they wanted to cover. So after they did M. Night Shyamalan's movies in the inaugural miniseries of the new incarnation of the show, #TheTwoFriends turned their focus to the Wachowski siblings.
The Wachowskis turned out to be a notable choice in terms of newsworthiness, when shortly before the beginning of the miniseries Lilly Wachowski joined her sister Lana Wachowski in coming out to the world as a transgender woman. Overtly this news item did not have a big effect on the podcast's overall evaluation/investigation of the Wachowski filmography, as the work really stands for itself -- though the Bound episode comes closest to making it a talking point in the discussion.
Clearly The Matrix had a huge effect on the film industry and gave the Wachowskis one of the longest-lasting blank checks in recent memory, making them a great subject for the podcast. But the Matrix sequels and several other subsequent works have engendered similar devotion among fans, too.
This miniseries was preceded by the Pod Night Shyamacast miniseries on the films of M. Night Shyamalan. It was followed by the We Pod A Cast miniseries on the films of Cameron Crowe.
